DEVENS, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's cross country team placed third at the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Cross Country Championships held on Saturday at Willard Park/Devens Recreation Complex in Devens, Massachusetts.
BSU freshman Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) garnered All-MASCAC honors as he placed fourth overall at the meet. McBirney covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:32.38. Sophomore Sam Steere (West Kingston, Ri.) also earned all-conference accolades for the Bears as he placed ninth with a time of 28:01.85.
Junior Ryan Goldman (Franklin, Mass.) finished just outside the top ten with an 11th place finish as he crosse the finish line at 28:06.62.
Worcester State University (49 pts.) captured the team title as the Lancers edged runner-up Fitchburg State University (53 pts.).
Freshman Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) of Fitchburg State won the individual title with a time of 26:07.14.
Following a week off, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Suffolk University at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. on Saturday, November 13th.
