BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, McBirney placed fourth in the 800-meter run (second among DIII runners) with a career-best time of 1:52.48 this past weekend at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT.

McBirney currently ranks 40th in all of Division III in the 800 and 11th in the East Region.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the 15th of McBirney's career including six outdoor distinctions. He has also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades nine times over the past two cross country seasons.

The outdoor season continues for the men's track & field team on Friday as the Bears will host the MASCAC Championships.
