BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

McBirney garnered Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Golisan Training Center on the campus of Nazareth University in Rochester, New York. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts native finished 16th in the 800-meter run at the national championship meet with a time of 1:56.02.

McBirney was making his first appearance at an NCAA championship meet.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the 13th of McBirney's career including nine indoor distinctions. He has also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades nine times over the past two cross country seasons.

The outdoor track & field season will get underway the final weekend in March. The Bears will compete at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday, March 29th while several members of the team will head to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia for the Emory Thrills in the Hills. That meet will take place on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th.
