Alex Huynh Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete & Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Alex Huynh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Huynh garnered First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships held this past weekend at the Golisano Training Center on the campus of Nazareth University in Rochester, New York. The Stoughton, Massachusetts resident placed eighth in the high jump at the national championship meet with a leap of six feet, 8.75 inches (2.05).

Huynh, who was making his NCAA championships debut, equaled his personal-best height set a couple of weeks ago at the Division III New England Championships.

The MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor marks the eighth of the season for Huynh, while the MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week accolade is his fifth.

The outdoor track & field season will get underway the final weekend in March. The Bears will compete at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday, March 29th while several members of the team will head to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia for the Emory Thrills in the Hills. That meet will take place on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th.
