NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team had three All-New England performances on the second day of the Division III New England Championships.

Senior Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.), senior Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) and freshman Alex Huynh (Stoughton, Mass.) finished among the top eight in their respective events to earn All-New England recognition Saturday.

BSU compiled 23 points at the two-day event, held at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, to finish in 11th place out of 34 teams.

McBirney finished third in the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 1:51.59.

A year ago in South Hadley, Mass., McBirney finished fourth in the 1,500-meter race to capture All-New England honors.

Adigwe was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a finals and season-best time of 14.71 seconds.

He was also an All-New England performer in the event last season, finishing fourth.

Huynh, who earned All-American honors during the winter season, finished seventh in the high jump with a leap of six feet, 2.75 inches.

On Friday, Huynh was also an All-New England performer, finishing sixth in the long jump.

Graduate student Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) received All-New England on Friday by finishing second in the javelin. Stalters broke his own school record and finished second.

Stalters is currently ranked second in all of Division III in the javelin while McBirney is 25th in the 800.

Next on the schedule for BSU is the New England Intercollegiate Coaches Amateur Athletic Association Championships. The meet, featuring all three divisions, takes place Friday and Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
