
MEDFORD, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) competed in the first five events of the decathlon on Friday afternoon at the Tufts Sunshine Classic.
King tallied 2,885 points over the first five events as he is in second place in the decathlon heading into Saturday.
King's top event on Friday was the 100-meter dash. He recorded a time of 11.42 seconds in the 100 to amass 769 points. King also tallied 667 points in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.34 seconds; 536 points in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 6.5 inches (1.69M); 487 points in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 1.75 inches (5.53m); and 426 points in the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, 6.75 inches (9.01m).
Freshman Dylan Moreno (Hyannis, Mass.) of host Tufts leads the decathlon competition after day one with 3,041 points.
The decathlon wraps up on Saturday morning with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meter run.
