
ATLANTA, Ga.. -- Bridgewater State University graduate student Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) broke his own school record in the javelin on Friday afternoon at the Emory Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta, Georgia.
Stalters won the meet title in the javelin with an impressive toss of 224 feet, five inches (68.40m) as he eclpsed his previous mark of 218 feet, 11 inches (66.74m) set back in 2022 at the NEICAAA Championships.
Stalters is currently ranked 17th all-time among the top 25 Division III performers in the javelin according to the USTFCCCA.
Freshman Alex Huynh (Stoughton, Mass.) placed second in the high jump with a leap of six feet, 6.75 inches (2.00m) in his first collegiate outdoor meet.
Junior Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) finished 21st in the 200-meter dash with a career outdoor best time of 22.22 seconds, while senior Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) posted a time of 23.30 seconds to finish 55th in the 200.
Stalters, Huynh and Mooney qualified for the Division III New England Championships in their respective events.
Huynh (LJ), Mooney (100), Adigwe (100H) and senior Kevin McBirney (800) will compete on Saturday during day two of the Emory Thrills in the Hills, while the majority of the BSU men's track & field team will open the outdoor season at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic.
