
BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) and graduate student Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) each garnered All-NEICAAA honors to lead the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team during the second and final day of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
Mooney placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a finals time of 22.43 seconds.
Stalters placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 47 feet, 6.5 inches (14.49m).
Senior Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) and junior Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) finished ninth (8.55) and 12th (8.81), respectively, in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles.
The Bears finished in a tie for 15th place (13 pts.) in the team standings at the two-day championship meet which featured teams from all three NCAA divisions in New England.
Senior Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman Alex Huynh (Stoughton, Mass.) both competed on Saturday at the Tufts National Qualifier.
McBirney placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.00, while Huynh checked in at second in the high jump with leap of six feet, six inches (1.98m).
McBirney's time in the 800 currently ranks 19th in all of Division III.
The official list for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced on Sunday night at eight o'clock on ncaa.com. For each individual event contested, the top 20 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition.
