
BOSTON, Mass. -- Freshman Alex Huynh (Stoughton, Mass.) and junior Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) each garnered All-NEICAAA honors to lead the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team during day one of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
Huynh placed second in the high jump with a leap of six feet, seven inches (2.01m). Only Matthew Santy of Division I University of Rhode Island jumped higher than the BSU rookie.
Ackroyd placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:44.86.
Sophomore Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) advanced to the finals of the 200-meter dash as he placed fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 22.26 seconds. Mooney was the top Division III sprinter in the 200 prelims.
The Bears are tied for sixth place (8 pts.) after day one of the two-day championship meet which features team from all three NCAA divisions in New England.
Day two of the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will get underway tomorrow morning at ten.
