Men's Throwers Compete at Lyon Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- Several members of the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team competed in a pair of throwing events on Saturday at the Lyon Invitational.

BSU had seven athletes in the shot put and three in the weight throw at the meet, hosted by Wheaton College.

The top finisher for BSU was senior Zanthius Collins (Franklin, Mass.), who was fifth in the shot put with a heave of 43 feet, one inch (13.13m).

Sophomore Chandler Doehler (Berkley, Mass.) was next for the Bears in the shot put as he took 12th with a toss of 39 feet, 8.5 inches (12.10m).

Other BSU competitors in the shot put were sophomore Kaelan McDonald (Washington, Conn.), who was tied for 19th (36'8.5"/11.19m) and sophomore Joe Flanagan (Foxborough, Mass.), who was 22nd (36'7.5"/11.16m).

Freshman Chase Noel (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman Jacob Fredette (Charlton, Mass.) tied for 27th (34'4.25"/10.47m) while freshman Jackson Kelley (Abington, Mass.) was 34th (30'4.25"/9.25m).

In the weight throw, Noel finished 12th (40'2"/12.24m) while Collins placed 16th (38'0.25"/11.59m) and junior Colin Daly (Easton, Mass.) was 20th (34'11"/10.54m).

BSU returns to action on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston  whenit takes part in the Roxbury Community College Open.
