Stalters, Dann Lead Men's Track & Field at Kennesaw State Invitational

KENNESAW, Georgia -- Graduate student Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) captured the meet title in the javelin and senior Jason Dann (Reading, Mass.) set a school record in the hammer throw as seven members of the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team competed on Friday at the Kennesaw State Invitational in Kennesaw, Georgia.

The meet featured schools from all three NCAA divisions as well as track clubs.

Stalters tossed the javelin 202 feet, one inch (61.59m) to outdistance the field of 21 competitors. He was the only student-athlete to the reach the 200-foot mark. Stalters also placed fourth in the shot put with an career outdoor best mark of 50 feet, 2.75 inches (15.31m).

Dann placed fifth in the hammer throw with a heave of 172 feet, seven inches (52.60m) as he eclipsed the previous BSU standard of 172 feet, two inches (52.48m) set by Michael McPherson back in 2012. Dann also placed eighth in the discus throw with a collegiate best toss of 141 feet, one inch (43.01m).

Junior Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33 seconds and finished 38th in the 200-meter dash (23.51).

Senior Exondus Barnes (East Providence, R.I.) placed seventh in the high jump with a leap of six feet, four inches (1.93m) and added an 11th place performance in the long jump (20'8.50"/6.31m).

Senior Thomas Barinelli (Tewksbury, Mass.) checked in at ninth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.56), tenth in the long jump (21'4.25"/6.51m) and 24th in the 100-meter dash (11.55).

Junior Stephen Spofford (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished 14th in the 200-meter dash (22.37) and 17th in the 400-meter dash (49.54) as he recorded collegiate best times in both events.

Freshman Jordan Rivera-Silva (Attleboro, Mass.), who was competing in his first collegiate outdoor meet, finished 21st in the 400 (50.10) and 23rd in the 200 (22.66).

Stalters is currently ranked fourth in all of Division III in the javelin and 23rd in the shot put. Barnes is 20th nationally in the high jump while Dann is 27th in the weight throw.

The majority of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team will compete tomorrow at the Corsair Classis hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
