Dann Leads Men's Track & Field at NEICAAA Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- Senior Jason Dann (Reading, Mass.) garnered All-NEICAAA honors to lead the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team during day one of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at The Track at New Balance.

Dann placed eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 53 feet, 2.25 inches (16.21m).

Junior Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Neitlich (Middleboro, Mass.) each advanced to Saturday's finals in their respective events. McBirney was third in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run (1:54.65) while Neitlich finished seventh in the preliminaries of the 500-meter dash (1:06.03).

Senior Thomas Barinelli (Tewksbury, Mass.) checked in at 13th in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 7.5 inches (6.59m).

Freshman Jordan Rivera-Silva (Attleboro, Mass.) hit for a PR in both the 200-meter dash as well as the 400-meter dash. Rivera-Silva finished 20th in the 200 with a time of 22.49 seconds, and 21st in the 400 with a time of 50.03 seconds.

The Bears are in 19th place (1 pt.) after day one of the two-day championship meet which features team from all three NCAA divisions in New England.

Day two of the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will get underway tomorrow morning at ten.
