BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Tyler Rocchio has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

A native of Attleboro, Massachusetts, Rocchio was a perfect 3-0 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles competition in three matches for the Bears last week which included a pair of Little East Conference triumphs against the University of Southern Maine and VTSU Castleton.

Rocchio earned a 6-2, 3-0 straight set victory at number five singles over Noah Mesaros of Emerson College and posted a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win at the fifth flight against Southern Maine's Landon Weaver. He then moved up a spot to #4 to record a 6-0, 6-0 straight set triumph over Castleton's Ben Chilkott.

In his doubles debut, Rocchio teamed with junior Ryan Hebert (Taunton, Mass.) for an 8-0 win at third doubles against against the Spartans.

Through six matches this season, Rocchio is 5-1 in singles competition competing mostly at the fifth flight.

The BSU men's tennis team is currently 3-3 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in the Little East standings. The Bears travel to Curry College on Wednesday afternoon for a 3:30 match with the Colonels.
