Men's Tennis Falls to Emerson, 6-1

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped its third straight match on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bears lost to non-conference opponent Emerson College, 6-1, at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts to fall to 1-3.

The Lions have won three of the last four matches against the Bears.

The lone win for BSU came from No. 5 singles player Tyler Rocchio (Attleboro, Mass.). The freshman defeated junior Noah Mesaros (Boise, Idaho), 6-2, 3-0.

Emerson's No. 1 singles player Filippo Nocchi (Pontedera, Italy) won over BSU's Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.), 6-1, 6-2, and freshman Connor Leung (Mercer Island, Wash.) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner for the Lions at No. 2 singles over junior Tom Ayson (Plymouth, Mass.).

Senior Pete Sevikul (Bangkok, Thailand) defeated Bears' sophomore Khiem Nguyen (Burlington, Vt.), 6-0, 6-4, at No. 3 singles while freshman Cameron McAllister (San Diego, Calif.) took No. 4 singles over senior Matthew Krampf (Littleton, Mass.), 6-3, 6-4.

At No. 6 singles, sophomore Finn Leeves-Coben (Malibu, Calif.) was a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 winner over over sophomore Anthony Lucas (Weymouth, Mass.).

At No. 1 doubles, Nocchi and Leung prevailed for the Lions over Beatrice and Ayson, 6-0.

McAllister and Mesaros won at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, against Krampf and Lucas while Sevikul and Leeves-Cohen won at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, over Nguyen and junior Ryan Hebert (Taunton, Mass.).

BSU has its Little East Conference opener at Southern Maine on Saturday at noon.

Emerson (7-8) will be at Springfield on Saturday at noon.
