Men's Tennis Posts 9-0 Senior Day Win Over Curry

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with a 9-0 victory over visiting Curry College on Monday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The Bears wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 7-4. Bridgewater is the top seed in this week's Little East Conference Tournament and will host a semifinal round match on Thursday afternoon.

The Colonels end the 2024 campaign with a record of 0-12.

Bridgewater swept the three doubles matches and captured each of the six singles flights.

In doubles play, the Bears won all three flights by identical 8-0 scores. Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) and Tom Ayson (Plymouth, Mass.) earned the win at the top spot while Robby Cooney (Plymouth, Mass.) and Matthew Krampf (Littleton, Mass.) teamed up for the victory at the second flight. The pairing of Ryan Hebert (Taunton, Mass.) and Nicolas Levine (Raynham, Mass.) completed the sweep at number three.

Ayson, Krampf, Tyler Barros (Somerset, Mass.) and Levine all earned straight sets wins in singles play at the first (6-3, 6-3), second (6-4, 6-3), fourth (6-0, 6-0) and fifth (6-2, 6-1) flights, respectively. Hebert posted a 6-0, 2-6, 6-0 decision at number three, and Kyle Robbins (Cataumet, Mass.) won in a super tiebreaker at number six, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4.

Levine and Robbins, who were both making their season debuts, each picked up their first collegiate wins.

Following the conclusion of the match, the Bears honored Levine who is the lone senior on the roster.

Notes: Bridgewater is 9-2 against Curry over the last 11 meetings of the two teams.
