WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Two members of the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team won events at the Little East Championships Friday night.
Junior Desmond Ng (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) broke the championship meet record in winning the 200 backstroke.
Freshman Matthew Jo (Stoughton, Mass.) was first in the 500 freestyle.
With two days of competition remaining, BSU is in third place with 238 points, behind Eastern Connecticut State with 304 points and Maine Maritime Academy with 257.5.
The event is taking place at the Boston Sports Institute.
The Bears have won three straight Little East titles since moving into the conference in the 2021-22 season.
Ng, a transfer from Sacramento State University, set the Little East record with a time of 1:58.01.
The previous mark was 2:00.12, held by Braeden Ledder of Keene State since 2023. Ng won the event over Alex Walsh of Husson, who had a time of 2:00.12.
Jo, in his first Little East meet, had a time of 4:49.12 to win the 500 freestyle.
He has been the Little East rookie swimmer of the week three times.
Ng and Jo both earned All-Little East honors by placing in the top three in their respective events.
Senior Robbie Soucy (Frye Island, Maine) was in fourth place after the preliminaries of the one-meter diving competition as he posted an 11-dive score of 257.65 points on Friday morning. The one-meter diving finals will take place on Saturday.
The Bears 400 medley relay squad would have placed in the top three but was disqualified.
The Little East meet resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. with the preliminaries and the finals will start at 6:30 p.m.
The competition concludes on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
