WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team resumed its season with a 184-78 road loss to Little East Conference (LEC) foe Eastern Connecticut State University.

Freshman Matthew Jo (Tewksbury, Mass.) and junior Desmond Ng (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) each won one event and finished second in another for the Bears on Wednesday afternoon.

BSU had been idle since hosting the BSU Invitational on Dec. 7 and had not taken part in a dual meet since a Nov. 23 loss at Clark University.

The Bears returned from a training trip to Puerto Rico earlier this week.

Jo placed first in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:07.05 and was second in the 1,600 freestyle in 11:05.83.

Ng won the 200 breaststroke in 2:16.26 and was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:10.25.

The only other BSU winner was sophomore Jirat Saengthong (Watertown, Mass.) in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:53.54.

Senior Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.) was third in both the 50 freestyle (23.17) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.84).

Freshman Dylan Kelley (Foxborough, Mass.) was second in the 500 freestyle in 6:08.59.

Senior Cameron Stringfellow (Wrentham, Mass.) was third in the 1,000 freestyle, senior Owen Lasbury-Casey (Mansfield, Mass.) took third in the 100 backstroke and freshman Caleb Perron (Belchertown, Mass.) was third in the 200 backstroke.

The Bears will take part in a tri-meet in New Hampshire Saturday at noon with host Keene State College and Brandeis University.
