Men's Swimming & Diving Rolls to 159-50 Win Over Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The visiting Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team wrapped up the dual meet portion of the schedule with a convincing 159-50 victory over Little East Conference (LEC) foe Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon at the PSU Natatorium.

The Bears (5-7) captured top honors in ten of the 12 events.

Sophomore Owen Lasbury-Casey (Mansfield, Mass.) won the 500 freestyle with a career-best time of 5:39.87.

Freshman Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.) posted a personal-best time of 58.53 second in the 100 individual medley. McKenzie also swam a leg on the Bears' 200 medley relay along with classmate Brady Callahan (Taunton, Mass.) and juniors Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.). The foursome won the event with a time of 1:46.29.

Gravanda added a first-place performance in the 100 butterfly (59.07), while Castellone was the first to touch the wall in 100 breaststroke (1:03.38).

Callahan, senior Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and juniors Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.) and Barrett Stutzman (Plymouth, Mass.) closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.82).

Pervier also placed first in the 50 freestyle (23.36).

The Bears also received wins from junior Luc Durand (Marblehead, Mass.) in the 1,000 freestyle (10:40.58), junior Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.) in the 200 freestyle (1:59.18) and grad student Shawn Driscoll-Gomez (Medford, Mass.) in the one-meter diving competition (115.00 pts.).

The Bears are off until Thursday, February 16th when they compete at the four-day Little East Conference Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.
