BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior defender Justin Silva has been selected to the 2024 Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Soccer Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Silva is the men's soccer program's first two-time recipient of the CSC Academic All-District® award as he also garnered the honor in 2022. Silva is also one of nine members from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to earn the accolade. 

The 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. A student-athlete must have also played in at least 90% of his team's contests for the 2023 season or started in 66% of the games.

A native of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, Silva is majoring in global management and checks in with a 3.68 grade point average. In 59 games over four seasons on the Bears' back line, Silva made 58 starts and recorded two goals and five assists for nine points.

Silva helped the BSU men's soccer team post a 10-5-3 record in 2024 including a 6-1-0 conference mark as the Bears' captured their second straight MASCAC regular season titles.
