BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Two members of the Bridgewater State University men's basketball team earned All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference recognition.
Junior guard Dante Kikuba (Framingham, Mass.) and sophomore forward Josh Campbell (Plymouth, Mass.) were selected to the second team.
It marks the second year in a row that Kikuba has been named to the All-MASCAC second team. He was also the conference Rookie of the Year in the 2022-23 season.
Campbell made the all-conference team for the first time.
BSU finished 10-16, including 5-7 in the MASCAC, and lost to Framingham State, 63-60, in the opening round of the tournament.
Kikuba started 25 of 26 games for the Bears, playing nearly 32 minutes per game.
He averaged 14.5 points and led the team with 2.1 steals and was second on the team with 5.2 rebounds.
Kikuba ranked fourth in the MASCAC in steals, ninth in rebounds and 11th in scoring.
On Feb. 5, Kikuba became the 31st player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone, doing so in an 85-66 win over Framingham State. Kikuba scored a season-best 30 points in that victory.
With one season left in his career, Kikuba ranks 27th at BSU with 1,097 points.
Kikuba also set the Bears' all-time assist record in an 81-71 victory over Fitchburg State on Feb. 15, surpassing Mark Dias' previous mark of 418 set in 1986. Kikuba heads into his senior campaign with 433 career assists.
Campbell is tied for second in the MASCAC, averaging 17.6 points on 50 percent shooting.15
Campbell averaged 19 points in the opening five games, but suffered an injury that forced him out of 10 straight games from Nov. 23-Jan. 15. BSU went 2-8 without him in the lineup.
The Archbishop Williams High graduate averaged 4.1 rebounds and shot 39 percent (29-for-74) from 3-point range.
As a freshman in the 2023-24 season, Campbell worked his way into the starting lineup for 15 games and was fourth on the team in scoring (12.3) while grabbing 4.3 rebounds.
The All-MASCAC first team includes Westfield State seniors Eric Johnson, Lid Moreland and Kenneth Rogers Jr., Mass. College of Liberal Arts senior Quentin Gittens, Salem State sophomore Omri Merryman, and Worcester State senior Brandon Goris.
Named to the second team with Kikuba and Campbell were Framingham State sophomore Joshua Saint Jean, Salem State sophomore Nicholas Martinez and Salem State junior Tyrese Rho.
Rogers Jr. and Goris are the Co-Players of the Year and Rogers Jr. is the Rookie of the Year. Johnson is the Defensive Player of the Year and Salem State's Chris Harvey is the BSN Sports Coach of the Year.
