
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate guard Noah Downing and senior guard Alex Gonzalez have been selected to the 2024-2025 Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Basketball Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Downing and Gonzalez are two of four men's basketball student-athletes from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to earn the Academic All-District® accolade. They are joined by junior Jacon Bluestein of MCLA and Worcester State junior Shawn Hebert.
The 2024-2025 Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. A student-athlete must have also played in at least 90% of her team's contests for the 2024-2025 season or started at least 67% of the games.
A native of Brockton, Massachusetts, Downing is attending graduate school and sports a 3.70 grade point average through is his first semester and is working towards his MBA.
Dowing played in all 26 games in his first season with the Bears and averaged 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and one steal while shooting 37% (15-41) from three-point range and 74% (23-31) at the free throw line.
Gonzalez, who is making his second appearance on the CSC Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Basketball Team, is a health science, pre-physical therapy major with a 3.61 GPA. The Peabody, Massachusetts product is expected to graduate in May.
Gonzalez averaged 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists in 24 games (18 starts) this season while shooting 31% (19-62) from behind the arc.
In 91 games over four seasons with the Bears, Gonzalez amassed 328 points, 208 rebounds, 108 assists and 29 steals.
The BSU men's basketball team posted a 10-16 record in 2024-2025 with a 5-7 conference mark.
