Samantha Hayes Named to NFHCA & Synapse Sports Honor Rolls

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Samantha Hayes earned a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and Synapse Sports national honor rolls for her performance on the field last week.

A native of Norwood, Massachusetts, Hayes potted six goals and added four assists for 16 points in a perfect 3-0 week for the Bears last week. She tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal in two of the three contests.

Hayes posted back-to-back hat tricks in victories over Anna Maria College and Little East foe Salem State University. She notched three goals and a pair of assists in a 5-2 triumph over the AMCATS, and recorded three goals and a helper in a 5-3 conference win against the Vikings. Earlier in the week, Hayes dished out an assist as the Bears knocked off defending Little East regular season champion Worcester State University, 2-1.

Through ten games this season, Hayes has 12 goals and four assists for 28 points. She ranks third in the LEC in both goals and scoring, and is also ninth in assists.

In 64 career games over four seasons at Bridgewater State, Hayes has amassed 36 goals and 16 assists for 88 points. She currently ranks fourth all-time in BSU field hockey history in scoring and fifth in goals. Hayes has never missed a game since arriving at BSU as a freshman in 2015.

The BSU field hockey team is currently 5-5 on the season and 3-4 in the Little East. The Bears host LEC foe Westfield State University on Saturday afternoon at four.
