STORRS. Conn. -- Bridgewater State University junior captain Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Abigail Abbott (Wareham, Mass.) competed on Saturday at the IHSA Zone 1 Region 4 Championships held at Horsebarn Hill in Storrs, Connecticut.

Desmond and Abbott both had terrific rides today at the regional championships. 

Desmond rode Grandy, a 17 hand bay warmblood gelding, in intermediate flat and placed third out of five riders. 

Abbott also rode in intermediate flat on Fig Newton, a 16 hand buckskin gelding, placing fifth. 

Abbott then hopped on Moon, a 16.2 hand chestnut gelding, in intermediate fences placing third out of four riders. 

The BSU equestrian team wrapped up the season placing sixth overall in region four.

The Bears' equestrian student-athletes will be going to the IHSA Zone 4 Championships to support their region and cheer everyone on next weekend.
