BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (April 7-13) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
TUESDAY
SOFTBALL, at home, Rhode Island College, 3:00 and 5:00 PM: The Bears host the Anchorwomen in a non-conference doubleheader at Alumni Park.
BSU (8-10) is on a five-game losing streak while RIC is 12-8. The Anchorwomen have been idle since March 28 due to a pair of twinbills being postponed.
RIC has won five of the last six games against the Bears, including a 6-0, 6-3 sweep the last time they met in 2023.
WEDNESDAY
MEN'S TENNIS, at Curry College, 3:30 PM: The Bears, who have five matches remaining, blanked the Colonels, 9-0, last season and have nine wins in the last 11 meetings.
BSU (3-3) has won two straight matches after a 1-3 start while Curry is 0-9.
BASEBALL, Curry College, 3:30 PM: The teams meet for the second time this season with the Bears winning, 14-2, in Milton on March 27.
BSU (14-7) has won five straight games and owns a 5-1 record at Alumni Park.
Curry (7-12) lost to the Bears, 11-4, last season.
FRIDAY
MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD, BSU Bears Invitational, 10:00 AM: The Bears take part in the first of two meets at home this season. They will also host the MASCAC Championships on April 25.
The BSU Bears Invitational was canceled in 2024 and was held on a cold, rainy day in 2023.
WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD, BSU Bears Invitational, 10:00 AM: The women had three individuals win events the last time the invitational was held in 2023.
Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) was first in the 100 and 200, Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) took the 100 hurdles and Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) won the 400.
BASEBALL, at Fitchburg State, 3:00 PM: The Bears swept three games from the Falcons a year ago, 10-2, 10-3 and 10-7.
Fitchburg State is 7-10, including 2-4 in the MASCAC, and has lost two straight games.
SATURDAY
WOMEN'S LACROSSE, at Fitchburg State, Noon: The Bears look to end their first two-game losing streak of the season.
BSU (9-3) is even with the Falcons (2-9) in the MASCAC standings at 1-1.
The Bears won two games against Fitchburg State last season, including a conference tournament matchup.
BSU coach Erica Adams needs one win to break a tie with Erika Smith as the program's all-time winningest coach. Adams is 91-65.
BASEBALL, Fitchburg State, Noon and 2:30 PM: The Bears and Falcons play a doubleheader to finish a three-game series.
SOFTBALL, Fitchburg State, 12:30 and 2:30 PM: The Falcons head to Alumni Park with a 4-19 record and are 2-2 in the MASCAC.
BSU lost a doubleheader to Fitchburg State last season, 3-2 in nine innings and 4-0.
