Solomon Tsegai

Solomon Tsegai was an outstanding runner at Bridgewater State College, competing on the cross country as well as the indoor and outdoor track and field teams over the course of his collegiate career which spanned from 1995 to 1999. 

Solomon earned Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) champion honors in each of the four years (1995-98) that he ran on the cross country team, and was also a Division III All-New England harrier in each of those four seasons. He helped the BSC men's cross country team capture back-to-back MASCAC titles in 1997 and 1998.

As a senior captain in 1998, Tsegai qualified and competed at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship meet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and finished in 65th place out of a field of 119 competitors.

In 1996, 1998 and 1999, Tsegai was a stand-out on the outdoor track and field team as well, earning MASCAC champion credentials in each of those years.  He won the conference title in the 800-meter run in 1996 and again in 1998.  He capped off his outstanding running career as a MASCAC champion in the 5,000-meter run in 1999.  In addition, Tsegai also earned the title of New England Alliance champion for the 1998 season (800-meter run) and again in 1999 (5,000-meter run).

Solomon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Bridgewater State in 2000.  He presently resides in Somerville, Mass. with his girlfriend, Stella, and son, Binyam.
