The all-time winningest coach in Bridgewater State women's basketball history, Bridgett Casey has directed the Bears on the hardwood for the past 26 seasons. Since taking over the reins in 1997, Bridgett has guided her teams to 377 wins (377-281, .573), six Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season titles, seven MASCAC Tournament titles and seven NCAA Division III Tournament appearances including five straight from 2010 to 2015. Along with earning NCAA Tournament berths in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2023, the women's basketball team also made an ECAC Tournament appearance in 2006. The Bears have reached the 20-win mark five times, including each of the last two seasons. Bridgett was named the MASCAC Coach of the Year in 2023 for the fifth time in her career. She also earned the honor in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013. Casey's 377 wins are by far the most in program history as she is the only BSU women's basketball coach to not only reach the 300-win milestone but also the 200-win plateau. Bridgett is a 1992 graduate of Bryant University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting as well as receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1993. Bridgett was a four-year starter of the Bryant women's basketball team. As a point-guard, she scored over 1,000 points in her career, served as team captain and was selected to the Northeast-10 All-Conference team. In addition to coaching basketball at Bridgewater State, Bridgett also serves as the department’s recruiting coordinator, a position she has held since 2020. Prior to her arrival at Bridgewater State, Bridgett served as an assistant coach at Brown University (1996-97) as well as at her alma mater Bryant (1993-96) under head coach Mary Burke A product of Easton, Massachusetts, Bridgett lives in Mansfield with her wife, Meghan, and four sons, Owen, Jack, Liam and Troy.
