Kayla Baril Named MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior outside hitter Kayla Baril has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week.

Baril averaged 11.67 kills and 10.33 digs with a .253 hitting percentage in a 2-1 week for the Bears last week which included a 3-1 MASCAC victory on the road over Salem State University. The Seekonk, Massachusetts product tallied 13 kills, 18 digs, a solo block and an ace in the win over the Vikings. She also notched a season-high 20 kills to go along with ten digs and an ace in a 3-2 triumph over Lasell College.

In 28 matches this season, Baril has recorded a team-best 215 kills as well as 30 aces, 216 digs and 15 blocks (five solo). She is tied for fourth in the MASCAC in kills and ranks tenth in hitting percentage (.174).

The BSU volleyball team is currently 7-21 on the season with a 3-4 mark in MASCAC play. The Bears are seeded fifth at this week's MASCAC Tournament and will travel to #4 seed MCLA on Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) for an opening round match with the Trailblazers.
