Erin Clifford Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore middle blocker Erin Clifford has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Clifford averaged 14 kills, two blocks, 1.33 aces, and 3.67 digs in three matches for the Bears last week while recording a .319 hitting percentage. The Hanson, Massachusetts product tallied a career-high 17 kills to go along with three blocks (two solo) and a pair of aces in a 3-2 setback to MCLA. She also notched 15 kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces in a 3-2 loss to Lasell College, and ten kills and five digs in a 3-0 setback to Emerson College. 

In 29 matches this season, Clifford has produced 247 kills and a team-leading .279 hitting percentage to go along with 14 aces, 41 digs and 48 blocks. She ranks second in the MASCAC in hitting percentage, fifth in kills and seventh in blocks. She is also third among the conference leaders with 23 solo blocks.

The BSU volleyball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 10-19 including a 3-3 mark in the MASCAC. Seeded fourth in this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears will host #5 Worcester State University in a quarterfinal round matchup on Wednesday evening at six.
