Erin Clifford Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore middle blocker Erin Clifford has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Clifford averaged 10 kills, three digs, 1.75 blocks and 1.25 aces while posting a .330 hitting percentage in a 3-1 week for the Bears. The Hanson, Massachusetts native tallied eight kills, four digs, two blocks (one solo) and an ace in the Bears’ 3-2 MASCAC win at Worcester State, and notched 32 kills, eight digs, five blocks (two solo) and four aces in three matches at the RWU Invitational.

In 15 matches this season, Clifford has produced 96 kills and a team-leading .266 hitting percentage to go along with five aces, 17 digs and 20 blocks (nine solo). She ranks second in the MASCAC in hitting percentage and tenth in kills per set (2.00), and is tied for seventh in total blocks.

The BSU volleyball team is currently 7-8 on the season and tied for second place in the MASCAC standings with a 2-1 conference mark. The Bears are off until Saturday when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a non-conference tri-match with the host Colonials and Keene State College starting at 2:00 PM.
