Volleyball Sweeps Pair of Matches at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team swept a pair of matches during day two of the Roger Williams University on Saturday in Bristol, Rhode Island.

The Bears (7-8) posted a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-15) victory over Emmanuel College and downed Worcester State University by a margin of 3-2 (25-11, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 18-16). Bridgewater finished 2-1 at the two-day invitational.

Senior setter Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) paced the Bears with 77 assists, 12 kills, three aces and 28 digs in the two matches. Panner matched her career-high with 48 assists in the win over the Lancers.

Senior outside hitter Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) added 27 kills, four aces and 24 digs. Classmate Clara Goncalves (Dennis, Mass.) notched 20 kills and 15 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Erin Clifford (Hanson, Mass.) collected 19 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.

Sophomore libero Cassidy Tyros (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished with 64 digs including 38 in the win over Worcester. The 38 digs matches her career high.  Tyros also checked in with a pair of aces. Senior libero Samantha Fasoli (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) contributed 29 digs and two aces.

The Bears are off until next Saturday when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a tri-match with the host Colonials and Keene State College starting at 2:00 PM.
