Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University volleyball team swept a tri-match with visiting Salem State University and Daniel Webster College on Saturday afternoon at the Tinsley Center.

The Bears (4-7, 1-1 MASCAC) posted a 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-22) win over Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) match, and completed the sweep with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-23) victory over Daniel Webster. In the other match, Daniel Webster posted a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) decision over Salem.

Senior outside hitter Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) recorded 36 kills over the Bears two matches including a career-high 29 in the 3-1 win over Daniel Webster. The 29 kills marks the second-highest single-match total inn program history. BSU Hall of Fame Kelsey Collasius holds the school record with 32 kills against Westfield State back in 2006.

Maymon also added a pair of aces and eight digs on the afternoon, and recorded a .348 hitting percentage.

Sophomore middle blocker Erin Clifford (Hanson, Mass.) also had a solid attacking day for the Bears as she amassed 23 kills and a .362 hitting percentage. Clifford also added four blocks (two solo).

Senior setter Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) finished with 58 assists including a season-high 40 in the victory over the Eagles. Panner also checked in with five kills, three aces and ten digs.

Sophomore libero Elexi Miskiv (Centerville, Mass.) also highlighted the win over Daniel Webster as she notched 16 digs to go along with three aces.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Worcester State University on Wednesday evening for a seven o'clock MASCAC match with the Lancers.

Notes: With her 36 kills on the day, Maymon moved into fourth place on the Bears' all-time list.
