Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Salve Regina

NEWPORT, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-17, 25-17, 25-22) to Salve Regina University on Tuesday night at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

The host Seahawks improve to 7-11 on the season with the win, while the Bears slide to 9-12 overall.

Freshman Cassidy Trablicy (Phoenix, Ariz.) paced Salve Regina with six kills, six blocks (two solo) and four digs, while classmates Erin Proctor (Canton, Mass.) and Meghan Parham (Tulsa, Okla.) checked in with 24 assists and 18 digs, respectively. Sophomore Nora Donahue (Braintree, Mass.) had an efficient six kills on 10 swings to go along with four blocks (two solo).

Senior Clara Goncalves (Dennis, Mass.) led the way for Bridgewater State with a match-high eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Goncalves, who had no attacking errors, also added an ace and four digs. Freshman Cassidy Tyros (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched a team-best 11 digs and three aces, while junior Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) chipped in with a team-best 17 assists to along with five digs and a kill.

Salve Regina recorded 12 services aces to Bridgewater State's four. The two teams combined for 17 serving errors with the Bears committing nine.

BSU finished with as many kills (22) as attacking errors thanks in part to nine Seahawk blocks. Salve registered 29 kills and a .129 hitting percentage. 

The match marked the second meeting between the two teams this season. The Seahawks won three sets in a row to stun the Bears, 3-2, back on September 12th at the Johnson & Wales Wildcat Invitational.

In upcoming action, Salve hosts Clark University on Thursday night at seven, while the Bears compete at the Live Free or Die Invitational hosted by Rivier College and Daniel Webster College on Friday and Saturday.
