BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman setter Charleyne Panner has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Panner averaged 33.3 assists, 8.3 digs, 1.3 aces and 1.7 kills in a 3-0 week for the Bears which included a 3-0 MASCAC win at Salem State University.

The Gilford, New Hampshire native notched 28 assists, four aces, six digs and two kills in a 3-0 non-conference win over Mount Ida College as well as 38 assists, ten digs and a pair of kills in Bridgewater’s 3-1 non-league triumph over Suffolk University.  In the Bears’ 3-0 blanking of Salem, Panner tallied 34 assists, nine digs and a kill.

Through 15 matches (14 starts) in this her rookie season, Panner has recorded 412 assist, 50 kills, nine aces and 96 digs as she ranks second in the MASCAC in assists.

The BSU volleyball team is currently 8-7 on the season with a 1-1 mark in conference play.  The Bears, who extended their winning streak to four straight matches, entertain Massachusetts Maritime Academy (2-13, 0-2 MASCAC) in a conference tilt on Wednesday evening at six o’clock.
