Volleyballs Ends Season with 3-0 Setback to Framingham in MASCAC Semis

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Andressa Fernandes had a match-high 12 kills to lead Framingham State University to a 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-22, 25-14) victory over Bridgewater State University in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Framingham boosts its overall record to 26-6 and faces No. 1 seed Westfield State in the MASCAC championship game later Saturday, Nov. 9. The winner receives and automatic bid to the NCAA championships. No. 3 seed Bridgewater finishes its season with a 16-18 record.

Also playing well in Framingham's balanced attack were: Julia Wan (6 kills, team-high 9 digs), Alycia Rackliffe (6 kills), and Maribeth Martin (20 assists).

Bridgewater's top players were: Hannah Maymon (8 kills), Clara Goncalves (7 kills), Julie Hutchins (6 kills), Melanie Appleman (23 assists), and Kristen Robillard (13 digs). Appleman finished her career at Bridgewater State with 2,107 assists which ranks fourth all-time in program history.  Robillard notched 1,411 digs in three seasons with the Bears as she is third all-time at BSU in that category.

Framingham posted a .267 hitting percentage for the match and recorded eight blocks and six aces. The Rams also limited the Bears to a .099 hitting percentage.  Bridgewater struggled at the net throughout the match committing 15 blocking errors and 16 attacking errors.
