Maymon Earns All-Tourney Honors, Appleman Nets 2,000th Kill at Hall of Fame Invitational

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Freshman outside hitter Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) earned All-Tournament honors, and senior setter Melanie Appleman (Hyannis, Mass.) notched her 2,000th career assist, to lead the Bridgewater State University volleyball team at the Hall of Fame Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Bridgewater posted a 1-2 record at the tournament with a 1-1 mark on Saturday.  After dropping a 3-0 decision to Bowdoin College on Friday, the Bears (14-17) suffered a 3-1 setback to Colby College and earned a 3-1 victory over host Mount Holyoke College on Saturday.

Maymon averaged 9.0 kills and 3.0 digs during the two day tournament.  She notched six kills, two digs and a block assist in the loss to Bowdoin and six kills in the setback to Colby.  Maymon capped off the tournament with 15 kills, four digs and a block assist in the win over Mount Holyoke.

Appleman notched 47 assists and six kills over the two days as she average 15.7 assists and 2.0 kills while posting a .316 hitting percentage.  In the 3-1 win over Mount Holyoke, Appleman tallied a season-high 31 assists as she became just the fifth player in BSU volleyball history to reach the 2,000-assist milestone.  The BSU captain has 2,006 helpers for her career.

Next Saturday, the Bears wrap up regular season play with a one o'clock match at Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) foe MCLA.
