Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches at Trinity & Wesleyan Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bridgewater State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches during the second day of action at the Trinity & Wesleyan Invitational Tournament.  The Bears finished 0-3 at the two-day tournament.

The Bears dropped a 3-0 decision (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) to Eastern Connecticut State University in their opening match of the day, and then fell to Western Connecticut State University by a score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-23).

In the 3-0 setback to Eastern Connecticut, freshman outside hitter Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) finished with seven kills and five digs, while freshman setter Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) tallied 20 assists, three kills and six digs.  Senior libero Kristen Robillard (Swansea, Mass.) added 16 digs and one ace, and senior outside hitter Danielle Dean (Gilford, N.H.) chipped in with four kills and 12 digs.

Maymon paced the Bears in the 3-0 loss to Western Connecticut as she registered 12 kills and 11 digs.  Dean notched seven kills and 15 digs, while Robillard posted 20 digs and a kill.  Panner added four kills and three assisted blocks.

Bridgewater (4-6) will open Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play on Tuesday when the Bears travel to Westfield State University to take on the Owls at seven.
