Natalie Cohen Named MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior right side hitter Natalie Cohen has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week.

A native of Marstons Mills, Massachusetts, Cohen earned Most Valuable Player honors in the Silver Bracket of the Hall of Fame Invitational and helped the Bears post a perfect 4-0 record on the week.

Cohen averaged five kills, 6.7 assists, 8.7 digs and three aces during the two-day tournament with wins over Wheaton College, Westfield State University and Union College.  In the Bears' 3-2 Silver Bracket title match win over Union, Cohen tallied seven kills, 16 assists, five digs and pair of aces.

Earlier in the week, Cohen collected four kills, eight digs and three aces in a 3-0 MASCAC triumph over Salem State University as Bridgewater improved to 4-1 in conference play.

In 20 matches this season, Cohen has accumulated 78 kills, 51 assists, 28 aces, 118 digs and 17 blocks.  She presently ranks ninth in the MASCAC in aces with 0.38 per set.

Cohen has appeared in 117 matches during her four seasons at Bridgewater State, recording 363 kills, 1,703 assists, 82 aces, 666 digs and 98 blocks.  Her 1,703 career assists ranks fifth all-time at BSU.

The Bears' will travel to Westfield State on Tuesday night for a key MASCAC match with the Owls.  A win would give Bridgewater a share of the conference regular season title and the top seed in the upcoming MASCAC Tournament.
