BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Sands captured the meet title in the high jump with a leap of five feet, five inches (1.65m) this past weekend at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product added a third-place showing in the long jump with a PR of 16 feet, 7.75 inches (5.07m) as she helped the Bears place fourth in the team standings at the meet.

Sands currently ranks fifth in all of Division III in the high jump and first in the East Region. She is also 13th in the East Region in the long jump.

The MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor marks the tenth of Sands' career and fourth outdoor distinction.

The BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete on Saturday at the Tufts University Sunshine Classic.
