BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Sands outleaped the field in the high jump this past weekend at the Amherst Spring Fling. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product recorded a mark of five feet, six inches (1.68m). She also finished 14th in the long jump (15'4"/4.67m) at the meet.

Sands currently ranks fifth in all of Division III in the high jump and first in the East Region. 

The MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor marks the ninth of Sands' career and third outdoor distinction.

The BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
