Serenity Sands Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Sands earned All-NEICAAA honors in the high jump this past weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at The Track & New Balance. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product posted a leap of five feet, 6.5 inches (1.69m) to place second at the meet which featured competition from all three NCAA divisions.

Sands currently ranks third in all of Division III in the high jump and first in the East Region.

The MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor marks the eighth of Sands' career and sixth indoor distinction.

Sands and teammate Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) will competer this weekend at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
