McDonough, Sands Headed to NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate student Alison McDonough and senior Serenity Sands will be competing at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

McDonough qualified in the 60-meter hurdles while Sands qualified in the high jump.

The national championship meet will be held on Friday March 8th and Saturday, March 9th at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia with Norfolk State University serving as the host institution.

McDonough is seeded 15th in the 60 hurdles. The Halifax, Massachusetts product posted her qualifying time of 8.77 seconds in the hurdles on February 25th at the Division III New England Championships.

Sands, who hails from East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, is seeded third in the high jump. Sands recorded her qualifying and BSU school-record leap of five feet, 7.25 inches (1.71m) on Februart 2nd at the Tufts Cupid Challenge.

McDonough is making her second appearance at the national indoor track & field championships. She competed in the hurdles at the DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships in March of 2022. McDonough also competed in the 100 hurdles last May at the DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Sands is making her debut at the national indoor track & field Championships. She also competed in the high jump last May at the DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships as well as the outdoor championships in 2022.

The preliminary race of the women's 60-meter hurdles is slated to take place on Friday afternoon at 1:30 PM with the finals scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM. The women's high jump is scheduled for Saturday at noon.

For each woman’s individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams were accepted into the competition.
