Jailene Escalera Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week, Bridgewater State University graduate student Jailene Escalera has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Escalera picked up a pair of All-New England accolades this past weekend at the Division III New England Championships held at Mount Holyoke College. The Rockland, Massachusetts native placed second in the finals of the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.51 seconds and finished fouth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.24 seconds. Escalera also posted a preliminary time of 12.20 seconds in the 100 as she was just 2/100 of a second off her school record time of 12.18 set at the MASCAC Championships.

Escalera currently ranks third in the East Region in the 100 and fifth in the 200.

The MASCAC weekly award marks the ninth of Escalera's career and eighth outdoor distinction.

Qualifying members of the BSU women's track & field team will compete later this week at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by the College of the Holy Cross.
