Jailene Escalera Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate student Jailene Escalera has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Escalera broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash and won two events this past weekend at the Tufts University Sunshine Class. The Rockland, Massachusetts product captured top honors in the 200 with a time of 25.03 seconds as she ecllpsed her previous BSU outdoor standard of 25.29 seconds set last season at the Springfield College Classic. Escalera also placed first in the 100-meter dash with a finals and season-best time of 12.31 seconds as she helped the Bears finish third in the team standings at the meet.

Escalera currently ranks 34th in all of Division III in the 200 and second in the East Region. She is also third in the East Region in the 100.

The MASCAC weekly award marks the seventh of Escalera's career and sixth outdoor distinction.

The BSU outdoor track & field teams travel to Westfield State University on Friday for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships.
