BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Naomi Cass has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Cass placed third in the 5,000-meter run with a PR time of 17:47.05 this past weekend at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College. The Westport, Massachusetts native helped the Bears place fourth in the team standings at the meet.
Cass currently ranks eighth in the East Region in the 5,000.
The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the first of Cass' career. She also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades five times this past fall during the cross country season as well as MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors during the winter indoor track & field campaign.
The BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete on Saturday at the Tufts University Sunshine Classic.
