BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Kiara Abrantes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Abrantes placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.45 seconds this past weekend at the Kennesaw State Invitational. The Somerset, Massachusetts native Aaso finished 15th in the 200-meter dash (25.53) as she Recorded outdoor best times in both events.

Abrantes currently ranks 18th in all of Division III in the 400 and third in the East Region. She is also 41st nationally in the 200 and fourth in the East Region.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the fourth of Abrantes' career and first outdoor distinction.

The BSU women's outdoor track & field team with compete on Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling hosted by Amherst College.
