Women's Track & Field Competes at Springfield Dual Meet

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Several members of the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed on Saturday at a non-scoring dual meet hosted by Springfield College.

Senior Ashley Garvey (Woburn, Mass.) posted a career-best mark of 121 feet (36.88m) in the discus. Garvey was also the top performer at the meet in the hammer throw (115'7"/35.24m) and the shot put (31'2"/9.50m).

Sophomore Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) captured top honors in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 15.37 seconds.

Sophomore Maura Bruns (Franklin, Mass.) was the first to cross the finish line in the 5,000-meter run as she posted a career-best time of 21:38.44.

Sophomore Abbi Peterson (Watertown, Mass.) finished second in the high jump with a career-best mark of five feet, 4.25 inches (1.63m). Peterson currently ranks 32nd in all of Division III in the high jump.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Connecticut.
