Women's Track & Field Competes at Jerry Gravel Classic

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed on Saturday morning at the non-scoring Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University.

BSU freshman Meg McCullough (Mattapoisett, Mass.) captured top honors in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. McCullough posted a season-best time of 16.50 seconds in the 100 hurdles and a season-best time of 1:09.87 in the 400 hurdles.

McCullough also ran a leg on the Bears' 4x400-meter relay squad along with sophomore Lily Marra (Lakeville, Mass.), senior Mary Jok (Lynn, Mass.) and sophomore Lindsey Golden (Mansfield, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 4:31.19 to win the event.

The Bears also picked up three wins in the field events. Senior Jamelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.) placed first in both the discus throw and the hammer throw. Foster recorded a career-best mark of 122 feet, one inch (37.22m) in the discus and tossed the hammer a season-best 125 feet, four inches (38.22). Sophomore Abbi Peterson (Watertown, Mass.) won the high jump with a leap of five feet, one inch (1.55m).

Following an off-weekend, the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by Westfield State on Sunday, May 2nd at 10:00 AM.
