Women's Track & Field Competes at Jim Sheehan Invitational

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Jamelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.), competing in her first meet of the season, captured top honors in both the discus and the hammer throw. Foster posted a mark of 118 feet, four inches (36.07m) in the discus, and tossed the hammer 125 feet, ten inches (38.35m).

The Bears' relay squad featuring sophomore Lily Marra (Lakeville, Mass.), senior Mary Jok (Lynn, Mass.), sophomore Lindsey Golden (Mansfield, Mass.) and freshman Meg McCullough (Mattapoisett, Mass.) placed first in the 4x400 with a time of 4:24.63.

Marra also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.29, while McCullough placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.85 seconds.

Freshman Nicole Major (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Abbi Peterson (Watertown, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' event winners. Major was the first to cross the finish line in the 800-meter run (2:27.68), while Peterson recorded the top mark in the high jump (5'3"/1.60m). Peterson currently ranks 20th in all of Division III in the high jump.

The Bears will compete next Saturday (9:00 AM) at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University.
