Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Andrews captured top honors in the 60-meter hurdles at the Tufts Invitational this past weekend as she posted a finals time of 8.97 seconds. The Plymouth, Massachusetts product also finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.80.

Andrews currently ranks sixth in all of Division III in the hurdles and third among Division III New England student-athletes. She is also ninth in New England in the 200-meter dash and 12th in the 400.

The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 21st of Andrews' career including 13 indoor distinctions.

Andrews currently holds nine individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears' indoor record holder in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50), 60-meter hurdles (8.86), long jump (17'6.75"), 200-meter dash (26.37) and 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (14.14), 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37), 400-meter dash (55.76) and the long jump (17'8.75").

A four-time NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships participant, Andrews garnered All-American accolades with a second place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2018 outdoor championships. She also finished 13th in the 400-meter hurdles at the meet. Last March, Andrews finished 17th in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2018 indoor championships. As a freshman in 2016, she placed 11th in the 400-meter dash at the indoor championships and tenth in the 400 at the outdoor championships.

In upcoming action, the BSU indoor track & field teams will compete at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, January 19th.
