Women’s Track & Field Competes at Tufts Final Qualifying Meet

MEDFORD, Mass. – Several members of the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet at the Gantcher Center.

Senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) placed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.84 seconds. Andrews also posted a preliminary time of 8.77 seconds in the event.

Senior Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) broke the BSU school indoor record in the 60-meter dash with a preliminary time of 8.01 seconds. McNamara eclipsed the previous mark of 8.14 seconds originally set by Traci Perry in 2016 and equaled four times by McNamara including three times this season. McNamara recorded a finals time of 8.23 seconds to place sixth at the meet. She also finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 8.25 inches (4.78m).

Senior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 0,75 inches (12.82m), while classmate Patricia Healion (Medford, Mass.) finished 15th in the high jump with a mark of four feet, nine inches (1.45m).

Andrews currently ranks second in all of Division III in the hurdles. The top 20 student-athletes in each individual event qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships which will take place next Friday and Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.
